This position reports to the Senior Director, Global Impact, and is preferably based in South Asia or East Africa.

 

Responsibilities

 

Technical Expertise and Leadership

Develop and lead Worldreader’s data strategy, inclusive of a scalable architecture and impact-wide data taxonomy.
Design and implement, in partnership with the Product Team, an external-facing data strategy that engages third-parties to support Worldreader’s work and makes Worldreader more transparent to its staff, donors, partners, readers, and other stakeholders.
Establish and roll-out an organization-wide impact data governance framework, with a focus on improving data quality & security by creating new or upgrading existing organizational policies and standards, governance metrics, processes, and related tools.
Engage in partner network groups to exchange learnings, synthesize knowledge, and collaborate.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders in selecting, introducing, integrating new, and improving existing analytics tools.
Work with impact, product, and development teams to identify opportunities for leveraging Worldreader’s and third-party reference data to drive business solutions and new revenue opportunities.
Management

Execute data strategy inclusive of managing Worldreader’s global dashboards, reports, KPIs, and quality metrics.
Define, configure & optimize impact data processes, including data ingestion, integration, standardization, enrichment, and provisioning.
Motivate a highly effective team of engagement leaders and quantitative analysts; manage their performance and growth in the data organization.
Work closely with Product and Technology teams to develop, implement, and manage data.
Identify business opportunities & challenges in the context of systems & data model requirements and recommend solutions.
Qualifications

Masters or Ph.D. in Data Science. Experience in Behavioral Sciences will be an advantage.
Minimum of 7-10 years of research/development, project management, portfolio management, business development, or related experience in the data technology industry.
Recognized team player with proven facilitative leadership skills in a cross-functional global team environment. Proven performance in a matrix environment with the ability to influence and align stakeholders.
Project management skills, having led at least three major corporate initiatives.
Strong analytical skills. Recognized ability to evaluate complex issues from multiple perspectives to ensure that balanced risk assessments are made.
Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
Previous experience in a start-up setting or proven ability to effectively operate in a start-up culture.
