Job Title: Consumer & Marketing Insights Manager ,East Africa

This role would report to : CMI Lead Africa .

Job Purpose:

As part of the CMI team, you will be required to partner with the Marketing & Innovation teams to help generate Consumer Insights and be able to guide them on its application to the business and address marketing challenges. You will have to proactively identify consumer driven issues and opportunities and have the ability to support the business on root-cause analysis as well as the best approach for conducting consumer researches. The CMI Manager leads consumer and marketplace understanding with shared accountability for business results. This includes ensuring that knowledge is integrated and synthesized into insights and translated into business recommendations.

 

Job Responsibilities :

Expertise in understanding business objectives and ability to elicit conversations with Business Partners related to business objectives
Expertise in consumer insights and ability to fuel innovation thinking and ideas
Provide strategic insights and business recommendations to marketing team basis quantitative research and data from secondary sources as well as qualitative tools
Conduct, analyze and interpret consumer research output. Integrate the feedback from diverse sources for a holistic understanding of consumers’ behavior
Discover consumer insights / needs from consumer interaction. Help to convert insights to meaningful concepts
Partner the business teams in applying insights for taking business decisions
Direct the development and execution of research and provide insights and recommended action to support product categories across East Africa. Areas of focus include New Products, existing product lines, Integrated Marketing/Integrated Brand Campaigns, Advertising, Digital/social media and Insight mining from social media listening reports.
Partner with Brand teams on innovation strategy and process. Ensure that innovation roadmap and products launched are based on solid consumer insights.
Direct market insights to drive decisions for strongest potential markets to launch the brand. Ensure research insights are used to select opportunity markets and drive growth across regions.
Provide salient consumer learnings to develop successful communication campaigns. Drive development of campaigns that resonate with consumers in partnership with Brand teams.
Identify new research methods and suppliers to address business issues and ensure the brand stays on the cutting edge of innovation and research.
Identify and bring on new suppliers and manage existing research supplier relationships. Ensure suppliers have a solid understand of brand, social mission, and consumers.
Develop frameworks & research to monitor brand performance across channels.
Train, develop and mentor marketing team and others on research skills, tools and methods.
Lead team in identification of future trends, new developments, brand performance and positioning to be used in strategic planning and decision-making.
Role may involve travel to other Eastern African Countries

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS :

3 – 5 years of experience in Market Research with substantial exposure in the quantitative domain with sufficient exposure to qualitative researches.
Mix of agency and client side (FMCG, Telecom, Technology, or Automotive) work experience
MBA in Marketing or MSc in Statistics .

SKILLS REQUIRED :

Expertise on application of range of Quantitative Research tools/techniques
Familiarity and Skills to use Qualitative Research tools/techniques
Formulating research problem, research design and data analysis
Ability to manage a research study from brief to presentation
Ability to synthesize large sets of data into crisp recommendations
Ability to recommend the appropriate research plans as well as on the research designs
Ability to challenge business decisions for positive growth of the business
Ability to analyze and interpret data in an insightful manner
Efficient time management, ability to multi-task and detail oriented
Recommend improvements in work processes within area of responsibility
Strong Project Management skills
Ability to use statistical packages for data analysis and visualization ( SPSS, Epi Info, Power Bi etc.)
Good communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and self starter
