Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled sampling and testing of raw water and final products from all Jibu franchises in collaboration with the technicians
Conduct continuous expansion of Jibu laboratory testing capacities and ensure equipment, tools and reagents are available, sufficient and calibrated where applicable required for reliable testing
Implement all necessary best practises in the lab to ensure lab environment is conducive for safe and reliable testing and coordinate regular testing with external labs for cross-referencing purposes
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions activities in the event of nonconformity
Coordinate compliance activities for lab testing requirements stipulated in standards during franchise product or systems certification processes
Support technicians in anticipating non-compliance issues from franchises based on lab report history and initiate maintenance or repair activities to preempt product failure
Conduct regular field visits to franchises to acquire information on quality conditions of production and provide proposals for development as well as to train operators on water quality and lab testing
Prepare and distribute laboratory reports to keep management, technicians and franchises informed on the performance of Jibu products
Ensure monthly laboratory targets are met and use agreed upon KPIs to track performance
Be a supportive, dynamic and flexible team member and coordinate well with other departments and functions

Qualifications

Minimum Experience Requirement:
At least 2 years of working experience
Strong interest in science particularly Microbiology.
Experience in food microbiology analysis, water production or any other related field
Conversant with Laboratory Management Systems.
Experience in quality assurance measures
Strong operations skills
Must be proven as reliable, consistent, performance driven
Accustomed to working against and achieving targets
Cultural knowledge and experience working in an emerging market context

Education Background:

BSC in Food science and Technology, Biology , Microbiology or Equivalent.
